Ej, CRI, ĉu ni povus aŭskulti vin nun?

The last time I blogged about China Radio International's Esperanto offerings, I had a hangup with the way their wrote and read their reports.

But now… I can't access their shows at all.

La koŝmaro post la revo - The nightmare after the dream

Last year, I purchased from the UEA Katalogo a short video DVD (12 minutes) about a teacher in Togo who looked to improve the educational system in his country.

Now said teacher, an Esperantist, is in trouble. With the UEA, no less.

Ĉu la UEA estas pli populara ol Bono ĉe Nobel-vetantoj? Nu...

This is one Libera Folio story I'd take with more than just the proverbial grain of salt, especially when it comes to something as big as the Nobel Peace Prize.

NPR aŭskultas vin

I was startled to find that TAKE made news south of the Canadian border — on National Public Radio's The Bryant Park Project:

Native Esperanto speaker Boris-Antoine Legault, president of the Québec Esperanto Society, joins us from the 7th Esperanto Congress of the Americas in Montréal.

Ĉu vere, s-ro Prezidento? Did you really mean that, Mr. President?

I've been looking for a good Esperanto equivalent for "foot–in–mouth disease" — the verb "fuŝparoli" is the closest I've gotten — ever since I read this item on Libera Folio quoting Czech Republic President Václav Klaus on the European Union's doomed Lisbon Treaty…

Ĉu vi povas aǔdi min nun?

I've meant to post the news a few weeks ago... A while ago, a very good friend of mine — a Bay Area (California) musician named Cyoakha Grace O'Manion — invited me to participate in the remix of "Church of the Holy Trees," a song recorded by her band Land of the Blind.

But here's the grabber: She asked me to record my voice, chanting the two key refrains of the song… in Esperanto.

Following his 2006 dub/sub DVD–R of the Russian film Kin–Dza–Dza!, Andrej Grigorjevskij has produced a new disc, this time of the 1966 comedy Ŝtelado de fianĉino.

Unesko al ILEI: Adiaŭ

I don't normally blog on the E-USA site during the day, but I just read on Libera Folio that UNESCO is officially dropping the Internacia Ligo de Esperantistaj Instruistoj (ILEI) from their roster of non–govermental organizations, or NGOs.

Deficiencies

Over the last few weeks, I've found myself trying to identify those areas of Esperanto studies where I am in need of focused study. Call it a deficiency review, if you will.
